KC Royals rookies Tim Collins and Eric Hosmer participated in a live chat today on kansascity.com for about a half hour each.
I was excited that Collins answered one of my questions:
Me: You were part of a pretty awesome bullpen last year in NH. Can you compare that group with this year’s Royals?
TC: The group I was in with New Hampshire, those are the guys I’d come up with, so that’s what made it fun. We were in low A, high A, came up to Double A together, so it was fun because you were with these guys every day. Awesome group, easy to be around. To compare to these guys, it’s almost the same. Tough to say, because I didn’t play with these guys, but it was real easy to come in and fit in with these guys. All of us being rookies, that’s what made it easy to make the adjustment. Made it easy to come to ballpark and come to play each day.
(Background on the question: I saw Collins pitch a bunch of times last year out of the bullpen for the New Hampshire Fishercats. They may have had the best bullpen I’ve seen in awhile, both stuff wise and character wise.)
Hosmer answered a bunch of questions, from what he likes best about KC (the BBQ) to how he was called up and what ballparks he’s looking forward to playing in (Minnesota, Chicago, and Boston).
My favorite question came from ‘twentyfivemanroster’ who asked:
“Will you and Moustakas have any kind of competition going when he arrives in KC? Did you in Omaha?”
Hosmer’s answer was:
“No because we’ll be on the same team for many years to come. Just arm wrestling, where I’d beat him.”
