DRAMA! White Sox @ Red Sox July 16, 2012

49-39 this season

Tonight’s storyline is . . . Kevin Youkilis and Bobby Valentine. Bobby V called out Youk. Youk didn’t appreciate it. Youk says its behind him and he is focused on the White Sox. Bobby V says he doesn’t think Youk was over it.

Well, hopefully there is no drama tonight as Robin sends out the following guys to play better against the Wrong Sox than they did back in April:

Alejandro De Aza CF, Youk 3B, Big Donkey DH, The King 1B, Alex Rios RF, AJ Pierzynski C, The Cuban Tank LF, The Cuban Missile SS, Bacon 2B.

Dylan Axelrod will start for the White Sox. Dylan is starting the game on ZERO days rests, but he’s assured the coaches he’s ready to go.

Ok, zero days is a tiny exaggeration, but it will probably feel like he is going on no days rest. Dylan was last out on the mound to pitch relief in Friday’s extra-inning game in Kansas City. In that game, he pitched two innings of 31 pitch scoreless baseball. His last start came on three days rest and he really didn’t look all that great. In fact, he was so off, that he had fans screaming about why Chris Sale didn’t start with the All-Star break coming. In any event, tonight, fans are hoping that Dylan isn’t awful and give up hope of winning the game right away.

45-44 this season

Bobby V will send out the following guys in hopes of his team moving up in the AL East:

Jacoby Ellsbury CF, Carl Crawford LF, David Ortiz DH, Adrian Gonzalez 1B, Cody Ross RF, Jarrod Saltalamacchia C, Will Middlebrooks 3B, Mike Aviles SS, Pedro Ciriaco 2B.

Aaron Cook will start for the Red Sox. Aaron is making his third career start against with the White Sox and is giving the Red Sox rotation a big boost. His last start was a loss where he allowed three earned runs in six innings against the Athletics. Against the White Sox, he is 0-0 with a 1.50 ERA. He last faced the Pale Hose on June 30, 2011 where he took a no decision. In that game he pitched six innings allowing just one run on five hits.

*Notes: The White Sox currently have 10 rookies on the team. That is the most of any first place team. Carl Crawford is making his 2012 season debut tonight after being on the disabled list with the elbow strain.
