Marlies: Series Tied, Action @ 3

(Photo: RebusIE/flickr)

After the Marlies took a 1-0 series lead over the Oklahoma City Barons, things looked pretty darn good. The 5-0 win saw nine different Marlies players register at least a point, and Ben Scrivens had 31 saves for the shutout victory.

Things quickly took a turn for the not-so-great, however, as the next night’s game proved to be entirely different, as the Barons won 5-1 and tied the series. Will Acton scored the only goal for the Marlies, and he also had a fight in the game, which was FILLED with penalties.

So here we stand, the series tied, with game three coming up in just a few hours – it’s set for 3 p.m. today, as the Victoria Day holiday in Canada provides a nice backdrop for the match-up at Ricoh Coliseum.

(Side note: Darn it, America, if today was a holiday, I would have totally made the trip up to Toronto!)

Before game one of the series, the Marlies had eight days of rest. Clearly, that wasn’t an issue, but back-to-back games were simply too much. Both teams have been off since Friday and today’s afternoon game could turn the tides either way.

If you’re in the Toronto area, you can catch the game on Rogers TV or am640. If you’re not so lucky (like myself), you can listen to the game online here.
