Leafs Re-Sign Holzer

(Photo: Melissa Kania)The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the have re-signed defenseman Korbinian Holzer to a one-year deal.

The 24-year-old native of Munich, West Germany was drafted 111th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Maple Leafs. This past season was his second with the Marlies, and he had 20 points (1-19) in 67 games this season.

Holzer also played two games with the Leafs in 2010-11.

Jake Gardiner played a total of 79 games last season, between the AHL and NHL clubs in Toronto. He also played in 17 games of the Calder Cup Finals and as the youngest player on the roster, still has two years remaining in his entry-level contract with the Maple Leafs.
