Weekend Headlines: Denver Broncos, Elvis Dumervil Continue Talks

Defensive end Elvis Dumervil is open to restructuring his contract with the Denver Broncos, but his agent won’t classify that as a “pay cut.”

Agent Marty Magid told the Denver Post late Friday:

“Elvis is a Broncos and he wants to remain a Bronco. We have exchanged proposals and we’re waiting to hear back from them.”

The Broncos are hoping to not pay Dumervil his current projected 2013 salary of $12 million. That salary is guaranteed if Dumveril is on the Broncos roster come next weekend.

Other tidbits

According to Tennessee Titans beat writer Terry McCormick, the Denver Broncos have “early interest” in pass rusher Dwight Freeney.

Citing an anonymous source, USA Today reports the Broncos are currently working to re-sign defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson before Tuesday. That’s when he’s set to become an unrestricted free agent.

The Broncos issued RFA tenders Friday afternoon.
