DHF Milestone: It’s Our Second Anniversary!

You might not have realized it, but Denver Horse Force recently celebrated a milestone.

Two years in existence.

Aerys Sports’ official launch was Feb. 1, 2011, though a few of the original sites, such as Denver Horse Force, launched a few days before. In my case, DHF’s first post was written Jan. 27, 2011.

But today is the recognized anniversary.

The Denver Horse Force network-a network I maintain in my spare time–has grown significantly in the past year, particularly via social media:

  • Denver Horse Force on Twitter has more than doubled in followers.
  • Denver Horse Force’s Facebook page has nearly doubled in “Likes.”
  • Weekly website visits from Feb. 1, 2012 to Jan. 31, 2013 generally outperformed their inaugural year counterpart. There are some notable exceptions from Year 1 – and those exceptions all deal with something Tim Tebow-related. Tebowing, anyone?
  • Peyton Manning’s March 19 decision to sign with the Denver Broncos kicked off the third-most visited week ever on DenverHorseForce.com. (See below)
  • March 19-March 25, 2012 was the second-most visited week…until two weeks ago. The days of disappointment following the Broncos’ Jan. 12 divisional-round loss to the Baltimore Ravens resulted in the second-most visited week in Denver Horse Force history.

For those curious, the most visited week didn’t happen within the past year. That honor goes to the week following the Broncos’ 2011 playoff loss to the New England Patriots. (And who could forget the Broncos Starting Quarterback Speculation Waiver?)

So there you have it. Now that we’re in offseason mode, there’s still plenty to discuss, though admittedly, I haven’t had the heart to dive right in just yet. All in due time.

Thank you to everyone who’s visited this site, retweeted a tweet, or commented on DHF’s Facebook page.

Go Broncos!

Remembering Tebowing? It Lives on in Madden 13

Your former quarterback, ladies and gentlemen…

(I particularly enjoyed the YouTube comment “They should have added a “place bounty on other player” option in the game instead.”)

Speaking of Tim Tebow, in case you haven’t heard by now (you know, because Tebow never makes headlines), he had a bumpy outing in today’s Jets’ OTAs.

Shameless self-promotion time: Darn right I’m taking this opportunity to once again link to the Denver Horse Force classic ‘Tebowing’ Takes Over.  I don’t know how many more opportunities I’ll get to showcase my Tebowing while writing about Tebowing exploits.

Tebowie - calling Jimmy Fallon performance a little “pitchy.”

Tim Tebow Gets a Win and a Word

Now that’s a great weekend!

Just when I start to think Tebow-mania has hit its peak, something happens – whether it’s another magazine cover, another television special, or another YouTube tribute.

In today’s installment, word that “Tebowing” is, well…a word.

"Tebowing" is now an honest-to-goodness word. (courtesy Craig O'Neal)

The Global Language Monitor, a Texas-based company that tracks language trends worldwide, now recognizes Tebowing as part of the English language.

As you know, Tebowing – to get down on a knee and start praying, even if everyone else around you is doing something completely different – hit cult status six weeks ago.  GLM credits the widespread acceptance and use of Tebowing for its “officializing” of the word.

Tebowing entered the lexicon in late-October, following the Broncos comeback overtime in against Miami, thanks to Tebowing.com, a website that allows fans to post their Tebowing photos, and of course, buy Tebowing merchandise.

You might remember DHF’s tribute to Tebowing, easily among my favorite posts ever.

Add This to the Tim Tebow Playlist

Tim Tebow was only a toddler when Tom Petty’s hit “Free Fallin’” was released in 1989.  I’m not sure how familiar Tebow is with Petty’s song, but he doesn’t need to be now.

He has his own version.

Ryan Parker Songs, whose past releases include “Kobe the Mamba Bryant,” “Stoops He Did It Again,” and “Domo Arigato Vote Joey Votto,” now presents:
