Denver Dailies: Broncos Roundup (Tuesday Edition)

Bannan ‘Looking Forward to Winning’ - Justin Bannan is back as a Bronco, and he couldn’t be happier.  “It feels great,” he said. “It’s good to get back out there. It’s weird, it’s kind of like déjà vu to be back out there on the practice field running around. I couldn’t be more excited and driven to have a great year.”  A 16-game starter for the Broncos in 2010, Bannan made 35 tackles along with one sack, four pass breakups and a forced fumble in orange and blue.  That season, however, the Broncos went 4-12. The following season, Bannan joined the St. Louis Rams. He made 32 tackles for the Rams in 15 games played with 14 starts in 2011. But St. Louis went 2-14.  After being accustomed to winning with the Baltimore Ravens for four seasons, the defensive tackle said he’s excited to rejoin a team that has high aspirations.  Read more from Denver Broncos >>>>

Peyton Manning Begins To Get A Feel For His Receivers - The Denver Broncos are getting to know each other this spring. They had three days of on the field organized team activities last week, three more coming up this week from Wednesday to Friday, and then they’ll have a mandatory minicamp in two weeks.  Read more from CBS4 >>>>

NFP: Should HBO scrap ‘Hard Knocks’ for ’24/7′ approach? - HBO has a problem. The cable network that airs the ultra-popular Hard Knocks series just can’t seem to find a compelling team willing to participate in 2012.  Compounding the issue is the fact that despite the 32 franchises the NFL has to offer, HBO doesn’t have 32 options to choose from. The show needs a big market team with even bigger personalities. The same reason many of us would love to see the New Orleans Saints or New York Jets on the program is the same reason why we wouldn’t necessarily want to watch the St. Louis Rams or Arizona Cardinals.  Read more from USA Today >>>>

Denver Broncos: The Biggest Question Marks Heading into 2012 - With the Denver Broncos having their best offseason in years, it’s both an exciting and an anxious time to be a Broncos fan.  The Broncos signed possibly the biggest free agent in NFL history when they were able to acquire Peyton Manning after starting off as distant afterthoughts in the “Manning race.” In the process of signing Manning, they were also able to sign Super Bowl XLIV hero Tracy Porter to replace incumbent starting cornerback Andre Goodman.  Read more from Bleacher Report >>>>

Denver Broncos Greatest Defensive Plays: #5 - As I sorted out my top Denver Broncos defensive plays it was rather easy at first, until I got to the fifth and final spot. My efforts were severely hampered by a lack of video of some of the plays I had on my short list.  I figured, heck with it, I’ll just pick my favorite defensive play from last season.  The play itself was significant within the game and it was an impressive individual effort by none other than the 2011 Rookie of the Year,Von Miller.   Read more from Bronco Talk >>>>

Little Known Facts: Denver “The Premier Comeback Team” - One of the things you can do, if you are interested in the Broncos early history is peruse the Denver Broncos Media Guides — they were called “Press Guides” during the Broncos’ early years. Every Media Guide and Game Book from the very first game to the most recent game are available for free on Denver’s official website (http://media.denverbroncos.com/History/). Denver Dailies: Broncos Roundup (Thursday Edition)

Justin Bannan back with Denver Broncos’ defensive line – As it turned out, Justin Bannan never left the Broncos. He just took a one-year detour to St. Louis.  Bannan, a 10-year NFL defensive lineman and a former University of Colorado star, returned to the Broncos when both sides agreed on the terms of his new one-year contract Wednesday.  Bannan started a career-high 16 games for Denver in 2010 before joining the Rams. He made 14 starts for them last season.  Read more from the Denver Post >>>>

Trading out of draft’s first round to acquire more picks an option for Broncos – Q: Do you see the Broncos trading their first-round pick in the April 26-28 draft to acquire more picks?  A: Any NFL team needing help at a deep position in the draft and holding a pick in the bottom third of the first round will consider trading out of the first round.  Read more from the Denver Post >>>>

U. of Cincinnati DT Derek Wolfe can contribute as NFL rookie – If a guy can sneak up on the NFL draft, Cincinnati defensive tackle Derek Wolfe could be that person this year.  Not sneak up in the old-school, didn’t-play-college-football sleeper sense, but just outside of the ever-growing predraft swirl. The more you watch Wolfe play, the more you see how hard he works down after down, and the more you believe he is a player who will contribute nicely as an NFL rookie.  Read more from the Denver Post >>>>

Manning Settled In – Peyton Manning talks about working out at Dove Valley and the importance of falling back into his April routine.  Watch video from Denver Broncos >>>>

Peyton Manning getting to know WRs – Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning called his offseason throwing regimen with receiver Eric Decker both “rewarding” and “critical,” adding that the workouts are helping him back into the groove.  In a video posted on the team website Wednesday, Manning said his work with Decker is not only helping the new teammates establish a connection but will mean wins when the season starts.  Read more from ESPN >>>>

Broncos TE Julius Thomas Has Important Offseason – When the Denver Broncos selected tight end Julius Thomas in the fourth round (129th overall) of last year’s draft, heads turned a little bit.  Sure, the former basketball player was being compared to Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzales, but his body of work didn’t necessarily lend itself to the Broncos taking him early on in the draft. He only played one year of football at Portland State where his primary sport while going to school there was basketball. In that one year on the turf, he had 29 receptions for 453 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Read more from Predominantly Orange >>>>

Broncos “Flat Out Denied” HBO For Hard Knocks In 2012, According To Report – Maybe it’s Tim Tebow time for HBO, because the Denver Broncos “flat out denied” HBO’s Hard Knocks offer to film the team’s 2012 offseason and preseason with Peyton Manning, according to Adam Schein of FOX Sports. Then again, Rex Ryan is apparently against having the show return to Jets training camp, so maybe Tebow is out of the picture as well. Schein reports that the network reached out to the Broncos first, presumably because Peyton Manning has come to town and expectations are high, but Denver turned them down right off the bat.  Read more from SB Nation >>>>

5 NFL Teams That Are Winning the Offseason –  Super Bowls aren’t decided in April, but there are definitely winners and losers in the NFL offseason.  While the draft receives the bulk of the hype, adding proven players is where teams make immediate leaps in the product they put on the field. In the case of the Denver Broncos, that means going all-in on Peyton Manning still having something left in the tank.  Read more from Bleacher Report >>>>
