Denver Dailies: Broncos Roundup (Sunday Edition)

Broncos, Ryan Clady begin to address contract extension - The Broncos have opened contract-extension talks with Ryan Clady, according to several NFL sources.  The left tackle is in the final year of his deal that will pay him $3.5 million in 2012. The franchise tag for left tackles this season was $9.4 million.  While the Broncos and Clady’s agent are talking, it may be a while before the two sides are close to an agreement.  Read more from the Denver Post >>>>

A Few Good Questions With… Ronnie Hillman - As I told you yesterday, two of the Denver Broncos 2012 Draft picks are attending the NFLPA Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles this week. Rookies QB Brock Osweiler and RB Ronnie Hillman are there repping Broncos Country. Well SBNation is one of the sponsors at the event and so therefore, had some representatives reporting live at the happening. Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride is one of the Bloggers in attendance and he had a chance to talk with Ronnie Hillman, the Broncos 3rd roundpick in this years draft.  Read more from Mile High Report >>>>

Ryan Clady appears to be regressing - Ryan Clady of the Broncos was hailed as perhaps the top young left tackle in football four years ago, when he protected Jay Cutler’s blind side well enough to allow 0.5 sacks in 16 starts. Clady “earned” Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro honors the following season, largely because his name recognition grew based on rookie-year performance.  Read more from Pro Football Talk >>>>

Rod Smith Has No Chance at NFL Hall of Fame: Fan’s Take - Rod Smith was exactly the kind of NFL player that I love. A fierce competitor, a hard worker. He just got elected to the Denver Broncos Ring Of Fame, and many around the city have been debating whether or not Smith could get elected to the NFL Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, I don’t think he has a chance of even being a finalist in the selection process.  Read more from Yahoo! Sports >>>>

Denver Dailies: Broncos Roundup (Monday Edition)

Happy Presidents Day to all.  If you have the day off (like some people I know), make the most of it.  For the rest of us, well, we’re cooler anyway…

Jack Del Rio’s playing days net players’ respect - Lest any of his players forget that he was once a pretty good athlete, Jack Del Rio provided a reminder for anyone who dared challenge him to a one-on-one competition.  In a game of pingpong, that is.  Read more from The Denver Post >>>>

Klis: Walton and Beadles reliable anchors on Broncos’ O-line - Just because J.D. Walton and Zane Beadles have much in common professionally doesn’t mean they have to share outside interests.  For this Presidents Day weekend, Walton was headed off on a hunting trip in West Texas. Beadles was playing tourist in New York City.  ”Never been,” Beadles said. “I’m at Ground Zero now. That’s a must. Anything else I see is gravy.”  Read more from The Denver Post >>>>

Kickin’ it: Terrell Davis faces tough run for proper honor in Canton - No reward for T.D. Every year that goes by without former Broncos running back Terrell Davis voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, I get a bit more upset. When I think of T.D., I think of Gale Sayers of the Chicago Bears and wonder how he got voted in. I look at Sayers’ record, and it nowhere comes near what Davis accomplished. They both played seven seasons in the NFL and their careers ended the same way: bad knees.  Read more from The Denver Post >>>>

Broncos’ Owner and CEO Pat Bowlen Turns 68 - On this day (February 18th) sixty-eight years ago, Denver Broncos Majority Owner, President, and Chief Executive Officer Pat Bowlen was born. Introduced as the majority owner of the team in1984, Bowlen has positioned the Broncos among the league’s top franchises over the past 28 seasons.  Read more from Bronco Talk >>>>

Von Miller’s ceiling - We noted early in the 2011 season when the Broncos benched their star rookie Von Miller during the second half of a loss to the Chargers.  Miller didn’t leave the field often after that game. The Denver Post writes that Miller was on the field for 79.7% of the team’s defensive snaps throughout the year. Considering he missed an entire game to injury, that’s a very high number. (It was good for third on the team.)  Read more from Pro Football Talk >>>>

Denver Dailies: Broncos Roundup (Wednesday Edition)

Broncos Mailbag: Why didn’t Bill Belichick learn better from the Broncos? - When Bill Belichick let the Giants score on that run late in the game, the first thing I thought of was when Mike Holmgren let Terrell Davis score in the 1998 Super Bowl for the Broncos against the Packers. Didn’t work then, didn’t work now. Has letting the other team score ever, EVER been an effective strategy? Seemed pretty boneheaded for a so-called genius.  Read more from The Denver Post >>>>

Against the Patriots, the Broncos could have used a break like Rob Gronkowski’s sore ankle - Today’s question about the Broncos comes from Robert. Q: What did the Giants do better against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI than the Broncos did against the Patriots in the AFC semifinals?  Read more from The Denver Post >>>>

Luke Del Rio, transfer quarterback, enrolls at Valor Christian - Luke Del Rio has enrolled at Valor Christian, according to Rod Sherman, the school’s athletic director.  Read more from The Denver Post >>>>

Broncos To Pick 25th - Prior to the start of the postseason, the Broncos were slated to pick 21st in the 2012 NFL Draft.  But after their Divisional round win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Broncos officially hold the 25th overall selection in the draft.  Read more from Denver Broncos >>>>

Franchise tag, who’s it? - NFL free agency starts March 13 and the franchise tag assigning period begins later this month. Anything can happen, but let’s look at a franchise tag candidate for each team in the AFC West.  Read more from ESPN >>>>

Brandon Marshall would relish reunion with Jay Cutler - A month after a Twitter exchange with the Bears’ starting quarterback, Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall reiterated his affection for Jay Cutler.  Read more from Chicago Sun-Times >>>>

NFL Power Rankings: Denver Broncos Finish At No. 20 In SB Nation’s Set -  The Denver Broncos’ 2011 season ended in defeat on the field at Gillette Stadium, but the team that beat them, the New England Patriots, were unable to claim the Lombardi Trophy, losing to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. How are the Broncos and the rest of the league looking as we head into the offseason? SB Nation’s Joel Thorman has put out his end-of-the-season NFL power rankings and the Broncos check in at No. 20.  Read more from SB Nation >>>>

Buzz: Broncos “getting tough” in contract negotiations - The release of longtime Denver Broncos cap manager Mike Bluem didn’t go unnoticed, but it didn’t cause a huge stir either. Executives and personnel come and go, especially with regime changes, and the hiring of 25-year player rep Mike Sullivan could simply be a matter of John Elway finding a person with whom he felt more comfortable working.  Read more from Bronco Talk >>>>

More Denver Broncos in the Hall of Fame? It Can Happen With Your Help! - With all due respect to Tony Dorsett and Willie Brown, it’s hard to believe that just ten years ago the Denver Broncos did not have a single enshrinee in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Read more from Mile High Report >>>>

Josh McDaniels Officially Named Patriots’ Offensive Coordinator - It was announced officially Monday that former Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels will take over as the New England Patriots offensive coordinator.  Read more from Predominantly Orange >>>>
