Denver Dailies: Broncos Roundup (Thursday Edition)

Peyton Manning at Broncos practice looking tip-top with passes - Optimism should not be constructed on name alone.  The Denver Broncos’ minicamp practice Wednesday at the team’s Dove Valley headquarters was easily the best Peyton Manning has looked since he put on a Broncos uniform.  ”You’ve seen what, four practices?” Manning said, teasingly.  It’s been five. The Broncos have had 12 practices — 10 organized team activities (OTAs) and two minicamp sessions. The media has viewed five of the 12.  Read more from the Denver Post >>>>

Todd Helton visits Peyton Manning at Broncos practice - One day it’s Peyton Manning’s former offensive coordinator at the Broncos minicamp practice, the next it’s a former Tennessee teammate.  Tom Moore, Manning’s playcaller with the Colts from 1998-2010, attended Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s workouts. Wednesday it was Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton on hand.  Read more from the Denver Post >>>>

Broncos’ Derek Wolfe “expects to contribute” as a rookie - There is an earnest quality to Derek Wolfe that the Broncos hope never dissolves.  He is a conscientious sort, dedicated to his craft. He wants to do well. It bothers him that he doesn’t know the playbook as well as he should. But with all due respect to Wolfe and his top-grade characteristics, he is a defensive tackle.  How many plays does a defensive tackle have to learn?  ”If you mess up, just do it hard,” Wolfe said. “If you’re going to mess up, just run to the ball. You can’t coach effort.”  Read more from the Denver Post >>>>

Warren Back in His Element - Ty Warren hasn’t felt this good in quite a while. After Wednesday morning’s minicamp practice, Warren said he feels no effects of the injuries that sidelined him throughout the past two seasons.  In fact, he said there’s “no doubt about it” that he is the same player he was in his last full season — 2009.  Read more from Denver Broncos >>>>

Notebook: Corners Pleased with Progress - Cornerbacks Tracy Porter and Champ Bailey agree that the secondary is fully equipped to help the team reach its lofty goals in 2012.  “The way we’re getting our hands on the ball and the way we’re flying around,” Porter said. “It just speaks volumes about us on the back end, the front guys putting pressure on the quarterback and the competitiveness that we have both offensively and defensively.”  Read more from Denver Broncos >>>>

Denver Broncos’ John Elway Focused on Improving Against High-Powered Offenses - The Denver Broncos’ defensive unit was much improved last season. However, in a handful of games last season, the Broncos really struggled. The most notable games were the two matchups against the Super Bowl runners-up, the New England Patriots.  Read more from Bleacher Report >>>>

Denver has hope at defensive tackle - The burning question for the Denver Broncos this offseason, buried in the frenzy of Peyton Manning’s arrival and Tim Tebow’s departure, was the middle of the team’s defensive line.  It was a mess, particularly after the underrated Brodrick Bunkley signed with the New Orleans Saints.  Read more form ESPN >>>>

Denver Broncos 2012 Schedule Analysis - Peyton Manning likely analyzed offensive lines, receiving corps, home field advantages, coaching staffs and front offices when making his decision on where to play football in 2012. But the schedule could not possibly have been one of the facets to his choice of the Broncos. There might not be a tougher start to the season than what Denver will deal with this fall. The first five weeks feature four playoff teams, including what could be the top three teams in the AFC (PIT, HOU, NE). In fact, of the first eight games, six will come against playoff teams from a year ago — and that doesn’t include San Diego. The only comfort is that Manning will get three of his first four games at home in Mile High.  Read more from Athlon Sports >>>>

Broncos News: Offensive Line Must Learn to Protect Manning - Peyton Manning might have the most difficult job this year — gaining the trust and support of the Denver fans.  However, on the field, the Denver Broncos offensive line will also be facing the biggest obstacle of their careers.  They need to protect Manning.  Having gotten used to a run-driven quarterback like Tim Tebow, the youthful offensive line must now learn how to block for a pocket-passer, and enable him enough time to throw the deep ball.  Read more from International Business Times >>>>

Broncos Bring Depth To Minicamp – It’s easy to forget how incredibly dichotomous the Denver Broncos were in 2011.  At times they looked (and probably were) simply unbeatable.  Other times the team was left exposed, giving up big play after big play.  Pinning the inconsistencies on the quarterback situation is the simple explanation, of course.  A peek at the roster, however, reveals the problem was in the depth chart.  Read more from Predominantly Orange >>>>

Denver Broncos: Potential First Round Trade Partners on Draft Day - It is becoming more and more clear that the Denver Broncos are seriously in the hunt for a defensive tackle in the first round of the NFL Draft come April.  Having lost Brodrick Bunkley to the Saints and spending most of their early free agency time and resources on Peyton Manning (which was 100% appropriate to do), Denver will not find impact players left on the market at defensive tackle.  Read more from Bleacher Report >>>>

5 Positions the Broncos Must Address in the Offseason – The 2012 version of the Denver Broncos have the chance to be a very good football team. That being said they still have some areas of weakness that still must be addressed.  There is no reason for Broncos fans to worry though, as their are plenty of great players available in the Draft this year.  The Broncos will play a very hard schedule this season but luckily for them Peyton Manning will be leading the team into battle this year.  Read more from Bleacher Report >>>>

Broncos Go All In With Peyton Manning - ”Plan B? I don’t have a Plan B. We’re going with Plan A.”  Those were the words uttered by Denver Broncos executive vice president John Elway at Peyton Manning’s introductory press conference on March 20. Plan A is to hand the team over to Manning and ride his right arm to the Super Bowl.  Read more from Athlon Sports >>>>
