Denver Dailies: Broncos Roundup (Wednesday Edition)

Rookie tailback Ronnie Hillman in hurry to make his move with Broncos – For the moment, Ronnie Hillman is a man alone.  The Broncos’ youngest player — he’s only 20 — has yet to appear in a preseason game because of a hamstring injury. For a guy with quick feet, sure hands and plenty of expectations, it means his rookie progress report doesn’t read the way he wants it to.  Read more from the Denver Post >>>>

Mark Kiszla: Broncos can fix dents in their defense with 3-4 alignment - The Broncos’ defense is fundamentally and fatally flawed. The good news: It can be fixed, if coach John Fox is willing to think outside the box.  To play to the strength of Denver’s personnel, the base defense for the Broncos should be a three-man front with four linebackers, allowing Elvis Dumervil and Von Miller room to operate and create chaos from the perimeter.  Read more from the Denver Post >>>>

A Long Time Coming - Seventeen days after signing with the Broncos, safety Jim Leonhard finally hit the practice field with his teammates.  ”It’s been a long time,” Leonhard said. “A lot of hours of rehab since I’ve been on this field. Surely you remember Sammy Winder and Bobby Humphries, along with the publicity stunt that was Tony Dorsett.  Then all the years of below average QBs such as Brian Griese, Jake Plummer, Kyle Orton, and of course losing Jay Cutler.  Read more from Rant Sports >>>>

Peyton Manning: Lack of Explosion at WR Will Haunt Broncos QB in 2012 - The Denver Broncos’ lack of explosion at wide receiver will haunt Peyton Manning in 2012.  Denver’s leading receiver from a season ago was Eric Decker, who caught 44 passes for 612 yards and eight touchdowns. Not terrible, but hardly a threatening presence on the outside.   During the offseason, the Broncos have added two dependable but far from phenomenal tight ends in Jacob Tamme and Joel Dreessen, and a 36-year-old veteran in Brandon Stokley.  Read more from Bleacher Report >>>>
