Denver Broncos Expect Record Turnout for Stadium Practice

The Denver Broncos have seen record turnout at Dove Valley, so Saturday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High should be no different. (personal photo)

And you though the 5,000 + turnout at Dove Valley was big.

Just wait until Saturday.

The Denver Broncos will hold their only training camp practice at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Saturday 3:30 – 6:05 p.m.  As for turnout, the Denver Post estimates at least 20,000, but I think that number is much too low, especially now that the team is suggesting fans carpool or use public transportation to and from the stadium.

Peyton Manning will lead the Broncos’ first-team offense against the second-team defense.  The first-team defense, meanwhile, will scrimmage against the offensive backups.  Offensive coordinator Mike McCoy told the Denver Post this will be a “full speed” practice:

“For the whole distance of the field, first, second down, third down, if it’s in the red area, if it’s another short-yardage or goal-line play, just let guys go cut it loose and see what they can do when it’s more game-like and not a controlled tempo.”

Practice is free to the public, and marks the first time we’ll see Peyton Manning in Denver…playing for the home team.  Manning has a 2-2 record in Denver during his 14-year tenure with the Indianapolis Colts.
