Denver Broncos DE Elvis Dumervil Arrested in Miami [UPDATED]

The Denver Broncos have confirmed star defensive end Elvis Dumervil was arrested Saturday in Miami.

According to Miami’s WSVN and reported by Denver’s Fox 31, Dumervil was arrested in connection to a road rage incident and faces a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  A Miami Dade Corrections official told WSVN Dumervil posted a $7,500 bond.

Fox 31 also posted this video – allegedly of Dumervil leaving Dade County Corrections.

Dumervil, a two-time Pro Bowler, is a Miami native.  The Broncos released the following statement following Dumervil’s arrest:

 “Our organization is aware of the matter and is continuing to gather the facts. This is a very serious allegation, and we will thoroughly review the details while the legal process runs its course.”

The Broncos begin training camp on July 25. The first team training camp practice is a day later.

UPDATE: As of 7:00 p.m. MDT, Dumervil’s attorney, Harvey Steinberg, told ESPN:

“No charges have been filed.  No aggravated assault took place, and it is likely that once the full investigation is complete no charges will be filed against Mr. Dumervil.”
