Sulaimon Competing for USA U18 National Team
Last Saturday, Duke incoming freshman Rasheed Sulaimon was named to the USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team. He is now competing with the team at the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Sao Sebastiáo do Paraiso, Brazil.
In the preliminary round on Saturday afternoon, Sulaimon scored 12 points in a rout over the US Virgin Islands. The US team won 105-42. He played the second most minutes on the team, while hauling in five rebounds and dishing out three assists.
On Sunday afternoon, the US team won another rout, this time against Mexico. They won 110-59. Sulaimon scored seven points in 18 minutes of action. He also hauled in five rebounds.
The 2-0 US team will face host Brazil next and the winner of that contest will claim the preliminary round Group A’s number one seed in the medal round semifinals.
