The Duke baseball team rebounded from a rough weekend with a 3-0 midweek victory over Charlotte.
Duke got on the board first on Andy Perez‘ solo home run to leadoff the bottom of the first. They scored two more runs in the third on two sac flies (one from Jordan Betts and the other from Matt Berezo).
Duke was then shut out by the Charlotte bullpen, most notably Micah Wells. Wells threw 3.1 scoreless innings and allowed just four hits.
James Marvel earned the win, as he pitched seven scoreless innings. He allowed five hits and walked one. Michael Matuella pitched a scoreless inning before Andrew Istler recorded the save.
Grant McCabe went 2-for-2 with a walk. The bottom two in the Blue Devils order, Matt Lumpa and Kenny Koplove, went a combined 4-for-7.
In the loss, Derek Gallello went 2-for-4 for Charlotte.
Duke now travels to Clemson for a weekend ACC series beginning on Friday night.
