Duke Must Win Without Gray

The Duke women’s basketball team did not receive the news they wanted on Tuesday morning.

All-American point guard Chelsea Gray will miss the rest of the season (including the tournaments) after her MRI revealed her right kneecap dislocation needs surgery.

Gray had started 60 straight games for the Blue Devils and has already reached the 1,000 point plateau in her junior season (against Maryland back on February 11th).

At the time of her injury on Sunday, she was averaging 13.1 points per game, 5.6 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.7 steals. She was leading the ACC in both assists and steals, while being ranked in the top ten nationally.

Duke finishes out the regular season with their toughest stretch: four games against the four teams directly behind them in the ACC standings. It begins with a home game on Friday night against Florida State. Next is a road game at Maryland on Sunday (on ESPN2) and they stay on the road to play Miami next Thursday. They finish the regular season at Cameron on March 3rd against rival North Carolina (also on ESPN2)..
