It was announced on Wednesday that the Duke women’s lacrosse team was ranked number seven in Lacrosse Magazine‘s Division I preseason poll.

Duke welcomed the second-best recruiting class to campus, as they brought in seven freshmen. They return 24 letter winners from the previous season, including Kerrin Maurer, the team’s leading scorer (49 points in 2012). Maddy Morrissey tied for the team lead in 25 goals last season.

The Blue Devils open the 2013 season on Friday, February 8th against ACC opponent Virginia Tech. They will be trying to make their 16th straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
