The Duke women’s basketball team had little trouble with visiting Valparaiso on Black Friday, as they won 90-45.
The Blue Devils shot close to 60% in the first half, but did cool off to 47.9% overall. They out-rebounded Valpo, 55-26, including 23 offensive boards.
Tricia Liston recorded a double-double, as she scored 17 points to go along with 12 rebounds. She hauled in five on the offensive end. Haley Peters was once again a beast on the glass with nine rebounds, five on the offensive end. She also scored 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting.
Chelsea Gray did not have a good shooting day (just 2-of-8), but she made all her free throws. She filled up the box score by dishing out six assists and hauling in seven rebounds.
Elizabeth Williams continues to come off the bench for Duke and she had a great performance on Friday. She was the leading scorer with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting. She also hauled in eight rebounds (six on the offensive end) and blocked three shots.
The Blue Devils are still having issues with turnovers, though Gray has been close to perfect in her last few. They committed 18 turnovers, 11 in the first half. A good team will take advantage.
Duke next travels to Xavier to play the Musketeers on Sunday afternoon.
