After losing their only game of their European Tour on Friday, the Duke women’s basketball team took out their revenge on host Geispolshiem. The Blue Devils won 121-34.
The game was over after the first quarter, as Duke led 23-2. At the half, it was 71-10 and Geispolshiem only made one field goal. They made eight field goals total in the game (8-for-49). On the plus side for the team from France, they made 17-of-25 free throws.
After the game, the two teams enjoyed a meal together.
Freshman Sierra Moore made her first start and totaled 14 first half points. She finished with 19 points and three rebounds. Tricia Liston also chipped in 14 first half points. She finished with 23 points and went 3-for-5 from three point range.
The game, however, belonged to hometown girl Allison Vernerey. In 34 minutes, she scored 23 points while hauling in 15 rebounds. She made 10-of-14 shots while also dishing out two assists and blocking three shots. This performance came one day after her father and sister hosted the entire team at her house.
Freshman Alexis Jones also notched a double-double: 13 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. She also dished out six assists.
Before heading home, the Blue Devils will be touring Italy.
