After spending most of the two days after their first win touring France (Normandy and Versailles), the Duke women’s basketball team took on Mondeville on Friday, who plays in the top league in France. The Blue Devils lost 88-79.
The Blue Devils started out hot, making 50% of their shots, but were still losing by one at the half (46-45). They were out-rebounding Mondeville 22-17. Duke went on a 10-0 run late in the first half and led for the last time, 43-42 with 1:34 to go.
The Blue Devils cooled off to 40% shooting in the second half and Mondeville’s 16-4 late run put the game away.
Duke turned the ball over 21 times.
Tricia Liston led all scorers with 21 points on 8-of-18 shooting (she made all four of her free throws). She also played 36 minutes. Chelsea Gray also went 8-for-18 from the field (16 points). She hauled in nine rebounds and dished out seven assists (but had four turnovers).
*The ladies travel to senior Allison Vernerey‘s hometown of Mulhouse, France on Saturday for dinner at her house. They will then play on Sunday at CJS Geispolsheim for their final game of their European Tour before traveling to Italy.
