Even if this is another sub-par season for the Duke football team, there may be some excitement from the media if a certain someone gets into a game.

That certain someone would be Hud Mellencamp, who is a walk-on to the football team. Hud is the son of rock star John Mellencamp.

Hud has never played football before. He was home schooled throughout his entire life, but was a boxer in Indiana. He is 5’11 and weighs 165 pounds. When practice started on Monday, he was listed as a defensive back.

The goal is to keep him away from the media and back behind the scenes as he learns the game of football.

The 2012 football season for Duke gets underway on September 1st at 7pm ET against FIU. It can be seen on ESPN3.com.
