Duke’s Vernon Named a Preseason ACC Player

At the annual ACC Football kickoff held in Greensboro this week, Duke senior wide receiver Conner Vernon was named to the Preseason All-ACC Football Team (which was conducted by the media).

Vernon is one of two wide receivers named to the All-ACC team (with Clemson’s Sammy Watkins). He was a second team All-ACC selection in 2010 and 2011.

Vernon is the NCAA’s active leader in receptions and receiving yards. He has caught at least one pass in 35 straight games, which leads all FBS receivers heading into the upcoming season. Last season, he caught 70 passes for 956 yards and six touchdowns. He averaged 13.66 yards a catch.

For the second straight season, Vernon and quarterback Sean Renfree will lead the Duke passing attack, which is regularly one of the best in the ACC. The two have hooked up for ten touchdown passes.

This season begins on September 1st against FIU.
