In this edition of “This Week in Rays’ Twitter” we have Call of Duty, golf, college football, cake and a baby on the way, among other things.
I’ll start with Reid Brignac (@reidbrignac) since he reached a Twitter milestone this week and took the opportunity to thank his followers.
Reid’s been one busy guy this week!
Seriously, we’re lucky he’s still tweeting since he’s the owner of the new Call of Duty.
It was through Twitter that I learned that Briggy’s father had neck surgery on Wednesday. I also learned from Brignac’s timeline that his father is doing well post-op. Best wishes go out to the Brignac family as Reid’s father recovers!
Brignac wasn’t the only Rays player who spent some time on the golf course this week.

That’s David Price’s (@DAVIDPrice14) nephew. Can we all say “awwwwww” in unison?
Price will be spending the weekend at my alma mater for the UM v. FSU game. It’s no secret that I’m jealous of him.
But my jealousy didn’t stop me from recommending a few things for him to do while he’s in good ol’ T-Town. I resisted the urge to tweet “Take me with you!” (I will be walking at Light the Night on Saturday. I sincerely hope my Seminoles will be beating the Hurricanes while I help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society beat cancer.)
It looks like Price and Evan Longoria (@Evan3Longoria) miss each other as much as I miss my friends from college.
Evan admitted to Jen Royle, and the rest of the Twitterverse, that he’s lost his mind this offseason.
Even without his mind working at 100%, Longo is getting the hang of Twitter. Here, he thanked a fan for buying season tickets.
He also called one fan’s Johnny Damon birthday cake “stellar.” I’m not trying to split long hairs (okay, maybe I am) but why would you use a photo of Johnny in his Red Sox days???
Without baseball, Evan is using another form of activity to keep himself balanced.
Have I ever mentioned that I love Sam Fuld (@SamFuld5)? Once or twice? Yeah. Well, he’s earned it.
Fuld also reminded us today that professional baseball is a family.
For those of you who are not familiar with the story, Ramos, a catcher for the Nationals, was kidnapped in Venezuela. You can keep up with the latest information on the case over at Win For Teddy.
And finally, Tampa Bay prospect and Arizona Fall League Rising Star Mikie Mahtook (@MikieMahtook8) remembered our nation’s veterans.

Nice piece, great to see all the Rays tweets summarized in one place.

That’s the greatest cake I have ever seen. I don’t even like cake. But I want it.
