Trek On, Rays

The Rays lost to the Red Sox last night in front of just 11,722 people at the Trop. In tonight’s game against Boston, it’s 0-0 in the bottom of the second. But third baseman Evan Longoria doesn’t want fans to count the Rays out of this postseason.

At this point in the season it seems appropriate that the next Rays promotion is “trek” themed. Sign up before 10pm on Wednesday night for the Star Trek Night (September 20) ticket special. Click here link to buy tickets.

I won’t pretend to know much about Klingons or the star fleet, but it sounds like a good time. It’s just $29 for a press level ticket and you get a Joe Maddon as Borg t-shirt.

In case the last few games have gotten you down, here’s some better news: The AL Cy Young race could involve two Rays. Let’s hope those two Rays (David Price and Fernando Rodney) get to pitch in the postseason.

I’m sure that you remember game #162 of 2011 as well as I do. Let’s hold on to some hope that there are meaningful games left to be played.

To add a little more drama, here’s some news on the stadium front:

A Tampa Bay Rays official is quietly meeting with Pinellas County commissioners as a private developer prepares to unveil plans for a new stadium next week.
