Tampa Bay Rays: TWIRT-Tallahassee, Team Love, And Tim Tebow

What a week.

I am so thankful that Twitter exists so I can feel at least slightly in touch with my favorite team during the offseason.

Elise Myers isn’t the only one who uses Twitter as therapy when there is no MLB baseball to be had, I just can’t draw nearly as well as she does so you’re stuck with screen shots.

-I’ll kick this thing off (pun intended) with some tweets about the trip several members of the Rays took to Tallahassee last weekend for the Miami v. FSU game since I happen to be heading up to my alma mater this evening.

First off, let me say that knowing several of the Rays were at Doak cheering on my Seminoles makes me pretty ridiculously happy. Secondly, how sweet is Reid? For those of you who don’t know, Candie Fisher (@canfish16) is the wife of Jimbo Fisher, the head football coach at Florida State.

Reid wasn’t the only tweetin’ Rays player to publicly thank Mrs. Fisher.

And now, I need to go grab some tissues before I talk about this next one.

Tampa Bay Rays: Hellboy, Florida State Football, And Uniforms

ROY: Does Hellboy have it?

-As shopping centers across the land throw Thanksgiving under the holiday bus and prepare for Christmas, the MLB awards season rolls on.

At 2:00 pm ET today, the Baseball Writers of America will announce their annual Rookie of the Year awards. Our very own RHP Jeremy Hellickson has a good shot at the AL ROY.

Hellboy went 13-10 on the season with a 2.95 ERA over 109 innings of work.

For the ROY honors, Hellickson is up against guys like Yankees’ RHP Ivan Nova, Seattle’s Michael Pineda, first baseman Mark Trumbo of the LA Angels and Kansas City first baseman Eric Hosmer.

Live coverage begins on MLB.com at 1:30 pm ET.

-In case you haven’t heard me mention it before, I am an alumna of Florida State University. My Seminoles had a little game over the weekend against the Miami Hurricanes. Like any true FSU fan, I have my share of UM related stories and trust me, many of them aren’t pretty.

Florida State beat Miami 23-19 on Saturday. I won’t get started on the ACC officiating crew because I probably won’t stop…

I couldn’t be in Tallahassee for the rivalry game, but a few Rays players were at Doak Campbell Stadium as guests of head Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher.

David Price, Reid Brignac, B.J. Upton, Matt Joyce and Desmond Jennings got to see one of my other teams take the W. I’ll compile some of their best tweets about the weekend for TWIRT. » Continue reading “Tampa Bay Rays: Hellboy, Florida State Football, And Uniforms”
