Congrats to Jadeveon Clowney, who was named an American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American today! Following his record-setting performance (4.5 sacks) against Clemson Saturday night, Jadeveon now leads the nation in sacks with 13.
Clowney was also selected as the SEC Defensive Lineman & Co-Defensive Player of the Week awards following Saturday night’s game.
This is the fourth year in a row that a Gamecock has been named an All-American (Eric Norwood, Alshon Jeffery, and Melvin Ingram in 2009, 2010, and 2011, respectively), which is another achievement to add to the long list of history-making events the Gamecocks have been part of recently.
Approximately one-third of the players selected for this year’s All-America team come from the SEC. To see the complete team, visit the AFCA’s website.
