After winning the first game of their current series with the Reds last night, the Cubs can clinch a series victory tonight with a win. It’s fun to beat the Reds, but especially fun to beat the Reds in Cincinnati, where they have a quartet of creepy mascots roaming the stadium. Why on earth does a team need four mascots? And why do they look so murderous?
On the mound tonight for the Reds is rookie Tony Cingrani (7-3, 2.80). He’s started three times this season against the Cubs, totaling 20 innings. He’s allowed 8 runs on 12 hits, walking only two and striking out 19. He’s 2-1 with a 2.35 ERA in his last three games, so we should expect the Cubs to struggle.
For the Cubs, Edwin Jackson (7-15, 4.91) will start. The team has lost each of the last six times that Edwin has started, dating back to his last win on July 31. Remember when he pitched well in July? That sure was fun. I’d like to see more of that from him.
Lineup after the jump.

With a lefty on the mound, we get to see Darnell McDonald! Isn’t that exciting? Game time is 6:10 Central, and you’ll be able to watch on CSN. Let’s go team!
