I swear, I really did think the Crosstown Series, or I like to call it this year, the “Who Sucks More?” Cup , was over. So you can imagine my surprise when I found out the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox had to play each other . . again.
In news that seemed surprising at first but then, on further review, wasn’t surprising at all, the Cubs announced that they’re kinda sorta thinking about signing Matt Garza to a long-term deal, now that he’s super healthy and really REALLY good at baseball. When I first read Jon Heyman’s tweet that the Cubs wanted to sign Garza, I cocked my head to the side like a dog trying to understand. But then I uncocked my head and realized what a transparent ploy that is to drive up the interest in Matt Garza. “You know what, teams who are interested in Matt Garza but who won’t give us as much as we want, he’s so SUPER-HEALTHY and GOOD AT PITCHING, we might just sign him OURSELVES.”

So that was pretty much what happened all day today. Also, the Stanley Cup was at my office and I missed it. So there was that.
The Cubs and White Sox continue the cross-town suckfest tonight at 7:10 pm CT. Who will suck more? Only time will tell. Now that he’s SUPER-HEALTHY and GOOD AT BASEBALL, Matt Garza (4-1, 3.45) will face Hector Santiago (3-5, 3.50).
For the love of God, remember that the Cubs’ feed tonight is on WCIU. If you don’t remember that and wined up switching over to CSN, you might accidentally hear Hawk Harrelson, and I can’t be held responsible for that.
