Try Out For Cal Ripken’s New Reality Show!

Are you at least 22 years old? Do you play baseball at a competent enough level to get a contract with the Orioles (you really don’t have to be too good)? Then you might just be able to land a spot on Cal Ripken’s new reality show!

The show is titled The Player, and although it sounds like another dating show where one person has to choose between fifteen or so people of the opposite sex and hooks up with almost all of them, it’s actually about baseball. The premise of the show, which will air on CBS Sports Network, is that a bunch of young ballplayers will compete for a spot in the Baltimore Orioles organization. (You can fill out a tryout form here and head on out to Aberdeen tomorrow morning to audition!)

I did a little research, and there’s no word on when this is going to air on TV, but I’ll let you know once there are more details.

In the meantime, Ripken has opened up about the investigation into his mother’s kidnapping, which happened a few weeks earlier and has baffled just about everyone. Vi Ripken was taken from her home in Aberdeen at gunpoint, driven around for an entire day in her own car, and then mysteriously returned to her home the next morning unharmed, but traumatized. The police have released a composite sketch and a video of a man believed to be Vi’s abductor, but unfortunately there are no leads.

With Vi safe, Ripken can now focus more attention on helping the Orioles find their next future star. Maybe it’s you.
