As Michael Phelps’s last Olympic race aired on NBC, nobody in Baltimore was watching Wei-Yin Chen put together an absolutely stellar performance of his own tonight.
Chen threw 100 pitches over seven innings, completely keeping the Rays off the board. That’s more or less the kind of pitching we need lately since we have a tendency to not score very much, and we got it tonight.
We did a little better on the runs, to be honest – four runs is a lot for this team as of late. The scoring wasn’t the highlight of the game, though. Matt Wieters stealing two bases was. I really don’t know how else to describe that except ‘hilarious,’ so there you go. It’s hard to think of good words to describe things with when you’re writing a game recap from your phone with a 20-pound cat literally sitting on your upper back. (This is really my life, guys.)
Now that we’ve got this series split up, let’s push things a little more to our side and win tomorrow, too. Baltimore deserves more than just the greatest Olympian of all time these days, after all – Phelps deserves a great baseball team to come home to.
