31 Prospects In 31 Days: Glynn Davis, #19

Glynn Davis is a newcomer to this list, and his story is somewhat fascinating. He went undrafted in 2010, but the Orioles kept an eye on him as he played during the summer and signed him at the end of the season. Now that they’ve got the outfielder in their system, he’s starting to impress.

Davis is the fastest player in the system, says Baseball America, and he’s got a pretty strong arm, making him a good fit for center field (where he’s blocked by Adam Jones, keep in mind). He used to be a shortstop, so he’s working on learning how to play center, but he’s picking it up pretty quickly. Although he’s got a decent swing and can hit for some power, he’ll probably hit more for average and his swing does need some fine-tuning. Right now, he’s in Frederick (he ended the season there with one game), so he’ll probably continue from there in 2012.
