Can The Sox Tame The Dirty Beast? White Sox vs Tigers April 13, 2012

3-2 this season

Happy Home Opener White Sox Fans! Are ya ready for some baseball?

Robin will send out the following guys for his first home lineup:

Alejandro De Aza CF, Brent Morel 3B, Big Donkey DH, The King 1B, AJ Pierzynski C, Alex Rios RF, The Cuban Missile SS, The Cuban Tank LF, Bacon 2B.

Jake “Dirt Bag” Peavy will be making his sixth career start against the Beast today. Lifetime, Dirt Bag is 2-2 with a 3.77 ERA and 33 strikeouts. Makes his sixth career start against the Tigers and fourth at U.S. Cellular Field … is 2-2 with a 3.77 ERA.

Make no mistake that Jake will be pumped up today. We all know he is fiercely competitive. Add to it that this is his first start of the season in front of the home fans and the excitement of Opening Day and perhaps his grindiness will be at an all-time high. Hopefully if he is “overly pumped” it doesn’t work against him in the game.

5-1 this season

Jim Leyland will send out the following beasts:

Austin Jackson CF, Brennan Boesch RF, Miguel Cabrera 3B, Prince Fielder 1B, Delmon Young LF, Alex Avila C, Jhonny Peralta SS, Andy Dirks DH, Ryan Raburn 2B.

Max Scherzer will start for the Tigers. Max is in his third season with the Tigers and the month of April has been good to him. Since April 18, 2010, he has won each of his starts during the month, so far for a total of five.

At the Cell, he is 1-2 with a 2.95 ERA. Lifetime against the White Sox, he is 3-3 wiht a 2.30 ERA and 58 strikeouts.

*Notes: The Tigers have been a bit banged up. Al Alburquerque has been on the disabled list after elbow surgery and Doug Fister was recently placed on the DL. Brandon Inge who has been out looks like he will be activated sometime this weekend. Robin Ventura will look to become the sixth White Sox manager to win on Opening Day at home today. Let’s Go White Sox and keep that streak alive for managers in Chicago!
