After losing to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, the Chicago Bulls had time to regroup from their ugly loss. Last night, the Bulls were in town to face the Indiana Pacers, the only team that remains undefeated in the league. Chicago started off well against the Pacers, but like every other game, their lead began to collapse in the third quarter. Derrick started off 3/3 from the field and looked as if he was allowing the game to come to him, instead of forcing the issue. Offensively, Butler, Boozer and Noah were absent. They combined only for 17 points, while Deng and Rose had 17 points each. This game really didn’t answer many questions for fans. It just proved that the Indiana Pacers, with the additions of Luis Scola and CJ watson, got better and have strong team chemistry. There are times when the Chicago Bulls cannot buy a bucket. Too many players for Chicago struggle at once. It’s natural for one or maybe two players to have an off game, but it’s a whole ‘nother problem when Rose sits and no one else can create a shot for themselves or anybody else. For several seasons, the Bulls have had this flaw. Many complain about Gar Forman not getting Derrick Rose any more legit help to elevate the Bulls to the next level, but still not much changes for the better each off season.

Derrick hadn’t played for about 18 months and it shows in their team chemistry. Players aren’t ready for his passes, spacing on the floor is sometimes an issue, and the lack of team chemistry is making the Bulls a turnover machine. Toward the end of the Pacers-Bulls game, Rose made several boneheaded turnovers that could’ve been great possessions for the Bulls to get back into the game. Surely, the Chicago Bulls will regain their chemistry and get their offensive rhythm back, but of course it will take time. The rest of the starters including Taj Gibson and Kirk Hinrich got used to not playing with Rose on the floor. These first few games in the season, we will see him trying to fit right in with the rest of the team. Fans will have to remain patient. Most expected a little rust from Rose, but also expected Rose to fit right back in and that assumption is a bit naive. On Friday, the Chicago Bulls will face the 0-5 Utah Jazz and hopefully a victory against them can boost their confidence.
