• After going 3-0-0 (including a shutout win) this past week with a 1.45 GAA and a .952 SV%, Brian Elliott was named the NHL’s second star of the week. (nhl.com) I don’t think I have to tell you how significant his play as of late has been, especially considering Halak‘s nagging injury and Elliott’s own play previous to this point.

• Relatedly, Elliott will be starting in Nashville tomorrow night at 7:00 PM CST when the Blues take on the Predators. (@lkorac10)

• According to Hitchcock, Andy McDonald, who missed Sunday’s game with the flu is 50-50 to play tomorrow. (@jprutherford) If he is not able, Kris Russell will once again fill in on the fourth line wing. (@lkorac10) However, it was reported that both McDonald and TJ Oshie were on this ice in Nashville for practice. (@lkorac10) We shall see.

• Blues prospect Dmitrij Jaskin is expected to make it into Nashville tonight, though he is not expected to get into the line up right away, barring some sort of emergency. Hitch says that Jaskin will practice with the team and then “see what he’s got.” (In the Slot) Originally it was thought that Jaskin would first report to the Rivermen (where he is currently assigned), but now Doug Armstrong has been quoted as saying, “We might bring him right in.” (@jprutherford)

• Though the Rivermen dropped a pair of disappointing games to the rival Rockford IceHogs this weekend, there were a few notable bright spots. Yannick Veilleux made his pro debut on Saturday night and even scored his first pro goal. On Sunday he scored once more and it proved to be the lone Rivermen goal that night. Defenseman Nick Walters also made his pro debut on Sunday in Rockford.
