Guess who won’t be playing in Europe if the lockout continues and only has himself to blame? (Photo: Bridget Samuels/flickr)
Some quick updates on the boys who MAY be back together real soon. (We can only hope.)
While Henrik Lundqvist went back to Sweden last week, he announced yesterday that he will not be signing with Frolunda at the moment. Not sure if money or the knowledge of the latest proposal aided in that decision.
In case you haven’t heard, Michael Del Zotto has been working at his local supermarket during the lockout. I kid you not. When asked about going to Europe, he stated that wasn’t an option cause he couldn’t risk getting hurt since he didn’t have a contract. He wasn’t worried about insurance for the injury but rather not being able to get the contract he wanted if the lockout ended and he was injured. Said from the start he screwed himself by not signing before September 15th.
Depending on when you read this, Ryan McDonagh may be playing in his third game for Barys. (I believe it starts 9:00 am EST this morning.) He will be playing Donbass Donetsk. While Donbass has a couple of names NHL fans will recognize, one in particular caught my eye – Ruslan Fedotenko. That’s right, McDonagh will see what it’s like to play against Fedotenko. If you’re interested, you can watch the game here (click on the British flag on left side to translate names to English).
Moving on to the Whale, yesterday at practice three players who haven’t played yet this season were back on the ice – Cam Talbot, Marek Hrivik and Ryan Bourque. Talbot has skated for a couple of days so the guess is he is close. Hrivik hopes to play this weekend but nothing has been confirmed. No word on when Bourque will be ready.
And lastly, in case you didn’t notice, I added a twitter list on the right-hand side of everyone and anyone within the Rangers organization you should be following. If you notice anyone missing, please let me know.
