I know, I know…Brandon Prust is no longer a Ranger. I’m having trouble accepting that so until he officially wears a Habs jersey for a game, we’re still going to talk about him. Especially when it’s a story such as this one. Sorry.
Yesterday, Prusty held the inaugural Prusty4Kids Charity Golf Tournament in London, Ontario. Many current NHL players were in attendance, including Rangers players’ Michael Del Zotto and Brad Richards as well as the young boy who inspired Prust to start his foundation, Liam Hepburn:
As I wrote a few weeks ago, this event was the first of it’s kind in Canada. Prust’s goal was to raise $100k. As of last night, he had already raised $119.5k and money was still coming in.
You can see video live from the event here. (FYI, Richards and Del Zotto are shown in the video.)
For me, it’s events like this which make me so proud to be a hockey fan. More often than not, the guys are more than willing to spend a little time to raise money for great causes.
Way to go Prusty!
