Throughout the lockout, many blogs are doing fake recaps of the games that should’ve been taking place. I’ve decided to go another route by doing real recaps…of the games that happened on that date one year ago.

This isn’t so much a game recap but instead a recap of a moment in time. Or an hour in time. As at 10pm on December 14th, hockey fans sat in front of their TVs preparing to re-live the past week of Rangers and Flyers hockey. They were not disappointed.

While Rangers fans knew they would hear about Michael Sauer being concussed and Artem Animisov’s goal celebration, they didn’t expect to meet Ryan Callahan’s 95-year old grandmother or see Sean Avery modeling during the season. They also didn’t expect to learn about the universe. Then again, neither did Flyers fans. Thanks a lot Ilya Bryzgalov.

So let’s take a moment and re-live episode one of season two of the greatest reality show on TV.
