More Minor News & Notes
Wow…three posts in less than 24 hours. Isn’t this supposed to be the quiet time of the year?
Anyway, the Rangers made another AHL signing this morning by signing free agent forward Brandon Segal to a one year contract. Terms have not been disclosed. Segal actually has 102 games of NHL experience with the Lightning, Kings and Stars, but only 11 goals and 11 assists to show for it. Last year he spent all but 10 games with the Rockford IceHogs and Norfolk Admirals. Official release on the signing can be found here.
Basically this is another depth signing. I like this one if only because he has NHL experience already which could come in handy if injury call-ups are necessary.
Also on the AHL level, the Rangers announced that AEG Management will take over all business operations for the CT Whale. This change comes after last weeks’ news that the Rangers cut ties with Howard Baldwin, the man who renamed the team the Connecticut Whale. Maybe they can go back to being the Hartford Wolfpack? No? Okay, I’ll just continue to call them that. (No joke, I still do.) Details on the switch to AEG can be found here.
