Good News & Bad News

Get well soon McIlrath! (Photo: @dylan_mcilrath/twitter)

More updates from Rangers-world while we wait for the inevitable trade that will send the fanbase into a frenzy and hopefully shore up the teams’ offense. First the good news. The CT Whale have found a replacement for the Assistant Coach position left open by JJ Daigneault joining the Habs. Some guy named Jeff Beukeboom. Don’t think I need to explain to anyone what he will bring to the organization. The thought of him working with Dylan McIlrath when he turns pro next year? Get excited Rangers fans because I know I am!

Speaking of McIlrath, a little bit of not so good news. During prospect camp, McIlrath suffered what was described as a minor knee injury that kept him off the ice for the last day or two as a precaution. Today we found out how minor that injury actually was – he had surgery for a dislocated kneecap. I’m not a doctor but that doesn’t sound minor to me. So far there is no time frame for his recovery/rehab which worries me more. Hopefully he will be ready for camp (assuming camp starts on time).

Finally, regarding camp starting on time (love how everything is connected today) – the NHL and NHLPA met for the second day in a row to work on CBA negotiations. So far everything is roses and butterflies between the two sides. Let’s hope it stays that way and camp open on September 16th as scheduled.
