A Late Recap and Quick Look Ahead

So now it’s been over 24 hours since Game 7 (thank my computer crashing for the delay) so my recap is going to focus on the positives of the game for the Rangers and how they will help moving forward.

Brad Richards. No player has drove me more crazy this season than Richards. One second he’s riffling a shot into the net like he did 92 seconds into Game 7 or roofing one with 7 seconds to go like he did in Game 5 and the next he is “quaterbacking” our power play. I get that guys have things their good at and things their not but I just don’t understand how this can be the same guy. Here’s to hoping we see more of the first one going forward.

Forechecking. The forecheck I saw in Game 7 kept a smile on my face all night. Not to say I wasn’t nervous (I was shaking all game) but I felt a lot more confident knowing the team I know and love showed up Saturday night. They need to keep this up against the Devils.

Discipline. Look, the Rangers are far from perfect but Chris Rooney and Dan O’Rourke made it clear very early they were only calling things they had to and the Rangers didn’t give them anything they had to call. We won’t get that lucky going forward but if the boys can keep their discipline we should be in good shape.

And finally King Henrik. The Rangers definitely pushed the majority of play but Lundqvist was there when the boys needed him. Quietly there’s been talk that he is only a regular season goalie. I think he is quickly silencing those critics. Now time to outplay a sure hall of famer (who apparently thinks he isn’t as good as Lundqvist anymore – is he serious with these comments?)

And with that we move to the Conference Finals. Rangers-Devils for the first time since you guessed it…1994. I don’t know why that year keeps coming up but Rangers fans have to take it as a good sign. Let’s just hope we don’t need double OT in Game 7 to send our cross river rivals packing. If it means we win I’ll accept it but not sure my heart will be able to take another game 7. Either way, bring on the Devils!
