Texas Rangers: Seriously, WHAT WAS THAT?!

Elvis to the rescue! (Image via Keith Allison.)

I’m speechless. I’m really not sure what to think about what just unfolded before my eyes.

CONFESSION: I didn’t turn on the game until the 5th and by that time the Rangers and tonight’s starter Yu Darvish were already behind 7-1.  So what did I do?  Switched over to the Olympics, of course.  At least there I knew I’d see a win (tape delay FTW).

As most everyone knows, this was a very important game for this team.  Having just lost 2 straight games to the Angels, the team was only up by 3 games in the AL West.  A loss could mean bad things.

So let’s recap what happened…

Honestly, I don’t know what happened prior to the bottom of the 5th, nor do I care (except that Darvish had yet another bad outing…).  The Rangers were down by 6 runs.  Basically over.  Then Mike Napoli laced a double to left, then Kinsler hit a double.  The score is now 7-4.  Then down by 2 in the 8th, David Murphy single WITH A RUNNER IN SCORING POSITION to make the score 7-6.

And then things got interesting…

Ian Kinsler led off the 9th with a solo home run to tie things up.  Sadly, Albert Pujols would hit a 2-run bomb (his 2nd of the night) to give the Angels a 2-run lead.  On to the bottom of the 10th…

In walks Nelson Cruz who immediately BOOMSTICKed one into left center (one what was probably one of the longest home runs of the year).  Rangers behind by 1.  And then, with 1 out and the bases loaded, Elvis Andrus delivers the game winning hit, a double down the 3rd baseline.

HELLO WIN COLUMN!

FINAL: Rangers 11, Angels 10

All I can say is that I hope this win will carry over through the rest of the season.  I don’t think we’ve had a great comeback win like that all season.  Let’s just hope they can keep the ball rolling and get a win tomorrow (along with a 5 game lead in the AL West…)

Oh, and as an extra bonus for Rangers fans… Mike Olt was just called up to the majors.  Sh*t just got real.

Go Rangers!  Best. Game. Ever.
