Texas Rangers: How Are YU Today?

Do YU want to know what happened? Do YU really? Here YU go!  The day had come to see the highly anticipated Yu Darvish finally take the mound after what seems like light years since he actually signed with the Texas Rangers.

Yu got off to a good start striking out the first Padres batter. He gave up a double to second baseman Orlando Hudson, then retired Guzman and Quentin. First inning pitch count:19. Not bad for his first outing.

In the second, Will Venable led off with a double (doubles scare me, but it’s early and they did no harm) but Yu showed off his athletic ability with some great plays covering first. Darvish threw 36 pitches, 26 which were strikes(he struck out 3). He seemed like he had great command and like he was happy to be back on the mound.

In his press conference after the game, he stated:

“First, I was happy to compete again against an opponent. I was with my four seam fastball and my slider. It’s an early part of the season and I’m not worried about the negatives of today. I’m just happy to throw.”

We’re happy you’re throwing too Darvish! And the Rangers? Did I mention they won 6-2?
