Rangers Recap: Beer, Wine, Ranch Style Beans, and Yu

<photo courtesy of Keith Allison>

1st Inning

  • Sure wish I would have gotten off work in time to see the 1st inning.

2nd Inning

  • That was an interesting play by Torrealba trying to throw out a ghost runner, but instead had a throwing error, and an actual runner moved to 2nd. Huh?
  • Yu need to stop walking people dammit.
  • Yu got lucky there. Inning ending double play.
  • I’m really looking forward to Yu batting.
  • Is it me, or do the Padres have the plainest uniforms in all of sports. It’s almost like they just gave up. And they’re new uniforms this year. Right?
  • My head hurts. I need an advil and a beer. I’m going to have a Saint Arnold Weedwacker. I support my statewide beers.
  • Dammit! The Pads pitcher, Anthony Bass, with a stupid 2 out 2 RBI shot between 1st and 2nd. And then he stole 2nd base. WTF? Wonderful, his first stolen base of his career. Yu gots to do better than that. Yu better make up for this when yu come to bat.

3rd Inning

  • The Padres pitcher has a dirty ass…that’s funny. Oh, wait. He slid into 2nd on that stolen base.
  • And here comes Yu up to bat. He nearly stepped out of the batters box on the first pitch. And it’s a broken bat single for Darvish’s 1st career hit in his 1st career at bat. Now he needs to steal 2nd. Nope…a 4-3 double play to end the inning. Thanks Ian Kinsler.
  • Darvish goes 1-2-3 to end the inning.

Texas Rangers: Scott Feldman Pitched. I Did Not Pay Attention.

Since Scott Feldman was starting Tuesday’s game, I decided to drink a little wine.  Because of that, things didn’t go as planned during the Rangers game.

Things that happened while I should have been watching the game:

  • My roommate and I discussed how doing the wave is American/not American.
  • I tweeted every member of NKOTBSB (New Kids on the Block + Backstreet Boys) that they should have a special episode on Glee.  Clearly, this needs to happen.
  • I googled images of Disney Princes and compared them to baseball players.  (DON’T WORRY, BLOG POST TO FOLLOW.)
  • Looked up how to do finger waves (that’s a hairstyle).
  • My roommate and I discussed why we want to own an elephant/not own an elephant/why Michael Jackson should have entered his concerts while riding an elephant.
  • Went over my roommate’s 401k.
  • We made mini pizzas.

FINAL: Rangers 7, Padres 3

Rangers Recap: While You Were Sleeping

Man, I hate West Coast games when I have to work the next morning. I really hate when I stay up and watch the entire game just to have my computer crash before writing my post. Sad face.

Anyways! On to the game. The Rangers headed out to the West coast again to take on the San Diego Padres. The Rangers jumped on the board first in the first inning when David Murphy singled up the center scoring Andrus and Beltre.

That’s all the Rangers needed. Harrison produced another solid start only giving up one run in 6 innings, putting his win total at 9. He worked out of a couple of jams and really started to settle in giving the Rangers their 8th win in the last 10 games.

You go Harrison. I love when you pitch well. The Rangers and Padres both scored the only runs of the game in the first inning. Talk about a quick moving game!

FINAL: Rangers 2, Padres 1

END OF GAME NOTES

  • Josh Hamilton was not in the lineup again, after a nasty stomach virus that kept him out of 5 games. He did make an appearance in the 9th and is expected to return Tuesday.
  • Mike Adams made his first appearance in San Diego since he was traded last year before the trade deadline. He looks much better in Rangers gear.
  • Leonys Martin is fast…I like him…that is all.

Thursday Rangers Thoughts: Interleague Play

Since no one wants to talk about what happened last night, instead I’m going to look ahead.  With interleague play starting next week*, I have to ask…

Which interleague series are you looking forward to the most?

  • Arizona Diamondbacks (50%, 4 Votes)
  • San Francisco Giants (38%, 3 Votes)
  • Colorado Rockies (13%, 1 Votes)
  • Houston Astros (0%, 0 Votes)
  • San Diego Padres (0%, 0 Votes)

Total Voters: 8

*Yes, technically it’s already started since the Rangers played Houston a few weeks ago, but does that really matter?

Texas Rangers Rapid Reaction: VICTORY!

The Rangers added another win to their spring total, but who really cares, it’s spring training. What matters most is, positions get settled – I’m looking at you centerfield – and guys keep working on what they need to work on.

In his first start since being removed with shoulder soreness on March 20, Neftali Feliz pitched 5 solid innings against the Cleveland Indians on Saturday, leading the Rangers to a 7 to 5 win. Feliz would end up with the W while giving up 3 runs, 5 hits, 3 walks, and 4 strike outs. He would also give up 2 home runs on 85 pitches, 51 for strikes.

In the 2nd inning with a 2-1 lead, Feliz observed the roster of the Indians and decided they needed some exercise. So he proceeded to walk 3 of the first 5 batters he faced. He would end up walking in a run.

Texas Rangers: W is a W

Well boys…It definitely was not as pretty as last night, but it worked. You pulled it out, and a W is a W, no matter how you look at it.

The good thing about this game is that Napoli looked like he has found his swing and bombed two homers. Kinsler had three hits and two runs. Not bad, not bad, boys.

The Padres struck first when lefty Robbie Ross gave up a home run and two singles in the top of the first. The Rangers got on the board with a Kinsler lead off double ( a stolen base moving him to third), and a Andrus fielders choice. 2-1 Padres.

It goes back and forth in the game of baseball and today was no different. The Rangers score in the second, Padres score 4 in the third. Rangers score in the third, Padres score in the 4th….Get the picture?

The Rangers looked like they were up for good in the bottom of the 6th when Beltre singled to right and Brandon Snyder (who is this kid anyways?) and Kinsler scored.

But wait….not quite so fast, the Padres weren’t done yet. In the top of the 9th Grandal hit a solo shot that put the Padres up 9-8. Whoops.

As I said it was a day of back and forth and the Rangers weren’t done yet either. Joey Butler hit a triple to right field scoring Mata, and tying it up. Next? Hinshaw throws a wild pitch and Butler scores from third. Game over….Rangers win!

Man, guys, I don’t like the down to the last wire type of things, but I’m glad you pulled it out.

Sad note: The game wasn’t on TV so no Wash moves for me today….but there’s always tomorrow!

FINAL: Rangers 10, Padres 9
