Rangers Recap: Pitching Duel to the Death!

Holy Batman Derek Holland! Where the hell did that come from?

The Rangers traveled to Tampa Bay so Derek Holland and the Rangers could take on Jeremy Hellickson and the Rays. For some reason the Rays always scare me. Usually when we play them they aren’t high scoring games. They have great pitching and not a great offense, we have a great offense and ok pitching. Don’t get me wrong, our pitching has done the job, the Rays pitching is just better.

Oh but last night Holland pitched a gem. It must be the socks. It has to be the socks. Holland pitched a solid game fanning 11…yep 11 strikeouts. The only blemish on his game was in the 4th inning when Longoria took him yard.

The bats had a hard time tonight. Everyone on the lineup struckout at least once. It just seems like after another extra inning game the Rangers luck just seemed to fizzle out. Mike Adams, Ogando and Joe Nathan weren’t available after their current workloads adn it got the better of the Rangers. In the bottom of the 11th Ben Zobrist drilled one off Mark Lowe to get the walk off win. Damn.

Better luck tomorrow boys.

FINAL: Rangers 1, Rays 3
