Nelson Cruz went all boom boom stick on us and the Rangers beat the Twins in extra innings to end a 5 game skid.It was a lovely evening in the DFW area. Not only did Cruz provide the ender, he entertained us all with a stellar debut in the 5 hole going 3 for 5 with 2 RBI. And sure, maybe the game had to go into extra innings, but the Rangers won so who cares. I don’t.
Derek Holland, back from a DL stint, wasn’t too bad…maybe a tad bit rusty. He was able to go 6 innings while giving up the 3 runs, but he also struck out 6. And he looked good doing it…stirrups anyone?
Former Twin and current Ranger closer, Joe Nathan, got the win for the Rangers. He worked 2 innings, the first time since 2009, and shut down his old mates. Suck it Twins!
FINAL SCORE: Rangers 4, Twins 3.
T’s Game Notes / Observations
- It was a good thing to see Mike Napoli taking 3 walks. I liked the patience. And Josh Hamilton had one too…I’ll take that.
- It was the 2nd walk off for the Rangers this year. Hamilton had the 1st.
- I better not forget to mention that both Adrian Beltre and Hamilton knocked one each over the outfield wall…and in fair territory.
- Now I’m off to celebrate this victory with a whiskey nightcap.
Upcoming Action: The Rangers and Twins face off again tomorrow at 6:05 pm. Roy Oswalt takes the ball once again for the Rangers.
