Rangers Down To The Wire

Athletics 3, Rangers 1

The Rangers have held the division lead all year until tonight’s loss. It’s now tied. It all comes down to tomorrow’s game 162. I would venture to say its really more about the Athletics taking it by going 70-38 since June 1st. That’s playing .700 baseball. Ridiculous. The Rangers in that time frame have gone 62-47. Pretty good, .570 baseball. So a hat tip to the Atheltics After tomorrow’s outcome they’ll know whether they’re playing Friday or this weekend.

On Deck

Ryan Dempster, RHP

12-8, 3.18 ERA, 150 SO
Dempster allowed four runs in 5 2/3 innings in a 7-4 loss to the Angels on Friday but is still 6-2 with a 3.33 ERA in his last eight starts. He is 7-3 with a 4.64 ERA in 11 starts since being acquired from the Cubs.

A.J. Griffin, #64 RHP

7-1, 2.71 ERA, 64 SO
Griffin takes the mound against the Rangers in the final game of the season, with the rookie saying he envisioned such scenarios while playing backyard whiffle ball with his brother. Griffin is 3-0 with a 2.51 ERA at home this season.
