Growing up in Arkansas, I was taught to cheer for the St. Louis Cardinals and Arkansas Razorbacks. Yes, my closet was a sea of red. When I moved to Dallas, TX over 7 years ago, I quickly adopted the Texas Rangers as my own. Now, it’s pretty safe to say, you can usually find me hanging out in the Home Run Porch at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington all summer. Oh, and to satiate my love of gossip, the wonders of Twitter, and the out-right bizarre in the sports world, you can also find me over at The Pulse.
Growing up in the great city of Dallas, I have been a Rangers fan since I could crawl. I spent most of my time growing up either playing softball or watching baseball. I was on a field 7 days a week to hedge my withdrawals from the game I loved. I’ve had season tickets, eaten a bazillion hotdogs, stood in the rain and the Texas heat at The Ballpark, hell…I got engaged to my husband there. Since I have moved back from Las Vegas, it’s pretty safe to say you’ll find me at the Ballpark all this summer.

I was born and raised in a small North Texas country town (Pilot Point, TX – pop. 5,000), and I’ve been a Rangers fan as long as I can remember. At eight years old in 1987, I started collecting baseball cards (Topps 1987 with a wood border; awesome) and my obsession with baseball began. As a kid growing up, I was Nolan Ryan on the pitcher’s mound – I used the same high leg kick and glove over the head pitching motion. Now, as a grown up in Dallas, TX, I’m trying to be Nolan Ryan and Jon Daniels as a President/General Manager in two fantasy baseball leagues. I should also make it known that I root for the Dallas Mavericks (MFFL) and the Dallas Cowboys. Oh yeah…and the Michigan Wolverines (no, I did not attend college there). If you are wondering why the Wolverines, it’s because of the Fab Five! Yes, I did wear the black socks, baggy shorts, and talked a lot of trash too while growing up playing basketball.
A little more about me:
Favorite Ranger of all time = Nolan Ryan; Favorite current Ranger = Ian Kinsler; Favorite baseball writer other than Laura Schulte = Buster Olney; Favorite Wolverine = Jalen Rose: Favorite Dallas Maverick = Steve Nash; Favorite band = Wilco; Favorite bourbon = Woodford Reserve; Favorite book = The Fountainhead; Favorite historical figures = Teddy Roosevelt and Ernest Hemingway.
I am an aging hipster with a penchant for indie films, fiction literature, and music. I worship at the church of baseball. I now see the backside of 6AM rather than the front. I drink oceans of coffee to come up and vineyards of red wine to come down.
I drape myself like wallpaper with the daily box scores. I pull my trousers up high, have a closet full of jerseys of past heroes of baseball and wear hush puppies. I have the best double play partner a man could ask for and an awesome little boy.
