Root for Lebron?? You Betcha!

INCONCEIVABLE!

Since the whole world seems to be against Lebron James and his Miami Heat teammates, this New York Knicks fan is going to do the unimaginable and will cheer them on in the NBA Finals.

Pick your jaws up off the floor. I know, I know…I’m supposed to hate Lebron James.

I’m supposed to call him Lebrick – even though he’s one of the best players in the NBA.

I’m supposed to wish ill against the Big Three because they celebrate too much – their pre-season coming out party, complete with pyrotechnics, rivaled other teams’ championship celebrations.

I’m supposed to be outraged because Lebron James and Dwayne Wade cried when the Heat beat the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

THEY CRIED!!!!! THEY ACTED LIKE THEY WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP AFTER BEATING SOMEONE IN THE CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS! HOW DARE THEY!!!!!

ACT LIKE YOU’VE BEEN THERE!!!

I don’t know what it is about Lebron James that makes me not hate him. And believe me, I’ve wanted to.

I thought his “Decision” was an over the top, ridiculous display of ego. I was also really pissed off because my Knicks had no chance of landing him.

I know Lebron says really stupid things but so do others in the sports world – Hello, A-Rod pre 2009? – no one’s perfect.

Even the haters cannot deny that Lebron James is an incredible basketball player – just look at what he did in the closing minutes of the Eastern Conference Finals’ clinching game.

So go on and hate him, tweet “I love Dirk!” and “Go Mavs!”, pray for the Miami Heat to fail miserably, make a Lebron James voodoo doll, or jump on that Dallas Mavericks bandwagon with the people in Texas who normally don’t care about basketball but want to scream about something.

I will choose to be bold – or maybe a little idiotic – and I will be rooting for the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.

As of this posting, the Miami Heat have taken a 1-0 series lead in the Best of Seven NBA Finals over the Dallas Mavericks

The Aftermath of Game Two: 24 Hours Later

Now that I’ve slept on it and spent a whole day wallowing in my misery – okay, not really. I finished reading “Bossypants” by Tina Fey – I have to say that I’m proud of how the Knicks played last night. Yes, the last play was not ideal but when you think of who they had out there with Carmelo and how with that lineup they only finished three points short, well, it’s actually inspiring in a way. The Celtics may have a 2-0 series lead but they won both games by slim margins. Not only that, they were playing at home.

I believe the Madison Square Garden crowd will energize the Knicks on Friday night. The crowd has been waiting for this game for seven years. Then factoring in that the game is against the Boston Celtics? Forget about it. Madison Square Garden will be so loud, Bruce Boudreau will still be complaining.

Call me crazy, but I think the Knicks can make this series interesting and definitely have a chance to win both games at home. I have my fingers crossed.

What say you? Do you believe that the Knicks can pull out a couple of wins at home? Do you think I’m out of my mind for thinking that they can?

Good morning Knicks fans. Time to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off! The series continues tonight in Boston with the Knicks in a 0-1 hole. Hopefully the refs will open their eyes or you know, do their jobs. (Other series have had ref issues so I can complain all I want about it and will until it gets better)

Knicks: Back That Thing Up

What’s that beeping noise I’m hearing? Oh, yes, it’s the New York Knicks backing into the playoffs. Felled by another putrid start against Milwaukee, the Knicks couldn’t overcome the deficit and lost 102-96 at home. They are now 7-11 since the Anthony trade and have now lost five games in a row.

Knicks Fans Look of Choice

The Knicks allowed another player to score a career high against them. This time it was Brandon Jennings who averages 15.4 points a night. He scored 37 for the Bucks. Andrew Bogut who averages about 12 points a night scored 21 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.

Not helping matters, Chauncey Billups was 3-11 from the field including 1-5 for three point land and finished with only seven points. Carmelo Anthony had 25 points and Amar’e Stoudemire had 28.

After the game Stoudemire said:

“We’ve got to fight more. We’ve definitely got to put a lot more effort out there on the court, play with a lot more energy. We’ve got to definitely want these games, I mean we haven’t done nothing yet. We’re not in the playoffs right now. I mean we have the seventh seed, but the way we’re going, we’re declining.”

This team looks lethargic and lazy. They can’t beat bad teams, they can’t beat good teams, in fact, right now, they would probably lose against a Division III college team (No offense to Division III teams). Barbara Barker of Newsday tweeted and dubbed it “March Badness” at MSG. I couldn’t agree more.
