Knicks: Back That Thing Up

What’s that beeping noise I’m hearing? Oh, yes, it’s the New York Knicks backing into the playoffs. Felled by another putrid start against Milwaukee, the Knicks couldn’t overcome the deficit and lost 102-96 at home. They are now 7-11 since the Anthony trade and have now lost five games in a row.

Knicks Fans Look of Choice

The Knicks allowed another player to score a career high against them. This time it was Brandon Jennings who averages 15.4 points a night. He scored 37 for the Bucks. Andrew Bogut who averages about 12 points a night scored 21 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.

Not helping matters, Chauncey Billups was 3-11 from the field including 1-5 for three point land and finished with only seven points. Carmelo Anthony had 25 points and Amar’e Stoudemire had 28.

After the game Stoudemire said:

“We’ve got to fight more. We’ve definitely got to put a lot more effort out there on the court, play with a lot more energy. We’ve got to definitely want these games, I mean we haven’t done nothing yet. We’re not in the playoffs right now. I mean we have the seventh seed, but the way we’re going, we’re declining.”

This team looks lethargic and lazy. They can’t beat bad teams, they can’t beat good teams, in fact, right now, they would probably lose against a Division III college team (No offense to Division III teams). Barbara Barker of Newsday tweeted and dubbed it “March Badness” at MSG. I couldn’t agree more.

Should’ve Known Better…

…than to fall in love with you…Kidding.

If the New York Knicks were my boyfriend I’d seriously be considering one of those breaks made famous by Ross and Rachel on Friends. (“We were on a break!!!”) How much of this up and down play are the fans supposed to take? Didn’t I say before this four game stretch that they’d probably beat the teams they’re supposed to beat and lose to the bad ones? So far, in three games, they’re 1-2 and the two losses were to teams with records below .500.

Today’s contest was particularly bad. The Knicks were down 32-9 at one point and shooting fifteen percent from the field. On the flip side Milwaukee was shooting close to fifty eight percent from the field. The Knicks did make a game of it and got close but as usual couldn’t stop Milwaukee from scoring. How hard is it box out? I know they’re still trying to learn to play together but that doesn’t take away from the fact that my 102 year old Grandma could probably box out better than these guys.

Another issue with the Knicks seems to be that need to try and overcome bad foul calls made against them. It seems like Amar’e Stoudemire can have three guys climb on top of his back and not have a foul called in his favor but if he’s caught breathing on an opposing player, FOUL!

Up next: The Boston Celtics tomorrow night at the Garden. This will be either a ten point Knicks win or a 30 point Celtics win. There is no in between.

My prediction: Paaaaaaaaaain.

P.S. Wear the Green uniforms!!!
