Quick Hit: Team New York Wins 2012 NBA Shooting Stars Competition!

Go New York Go New York Go!

On the second night of the NBA’s All Star Weekend festivities, current Knick Landry Fields, former Knick Allan Houston and Cappie Pondexter from the New York Liberty teamed up to compete in the Haier Shooting Stars competition.

Team New York faced off against three other teams, representing different regions: Texas, Orlando and Atlanta.

Each team had to hit six shots per round, including one from half-court which is slightly insane but these players are/were pros, right? Team New York and Team Texas advanced to the finals, with New York hitting their six shots in 38.7 seconds in the first round.

Team New York had no problems with their first five shots of the final round but they ended up missing several attempts from half-court before Allan Houston nailed a half-court attempt to lead Team New York to victory. (He actually hit both half court shots, one in each round. Can we sign him for the rest of the season?)

They finished with a final round time of 37.3 seconds.

You know, I won a free throw shooting contest in fourth grade which was pretty cool. I didn’t win a trophy though. And that’s the extent of my basketball prowess.

Anyway, first, the New York Giants win the Super Bowl, then Linsanity sweeps the nation and now this! The world is New York’s oyster!
