Well, after tonight’s game, he knows who Jeremy Lin is. Bryant and the Lakers fell victim to “Linsanity” as the Knicks won their fourth game in a row.
I don’t even know what to say anymore.
What’s happening right now with the New York Knicks and Jeremy Lin seems other worldly. It is just astounding to witness. Every time you think, “Okay, he’ll come down to Earth in his next game,” Lin takes the floor and just takes it to another level.
Tonight? He notched another new career high. This time, the total was 38 points. THIRTY EIGHT!!! I cannot even believe it. And the best part? He did this against the Los Angeles Lakers. It wasn’t the Nets, it wasn’t the lowly Wizards and it wasn’t the Jazz. It was the Lakers.
Were the Lakers tired? Probably but the Knicks – without Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire – were able to beat them for the first time in ten games.
And the funniest thing about tonight’s game? Jeremy Lin outscored Kobe Bryant. Just let that sink in for a moment kids. Jeremy Lin, who was cut by Golden State in December and who was an afterthought until three other players were unable to play, outscored perennial All Star Kobe Bryant.
How great is that? This is the kind of story that even the most cynical, bitter person can get behind and be happy about. This is the kind of story that makes an entire city excited.
Do you know what else is great? Other teams are fascinated by this kid. The Atlanta Hawks were in their locker room watching the game after their overtime victory against the Orlando Magic.
Linsanity is sweeping the nation!
As for his teammates, Iman Shumpert scored 12, Jared Jeffries scored 11 and Tyson Chandler pulled down nine rebounds.
Up next for the Knicks, a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis tomorrow night.
